The Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) challenges teams of university students to clarify, analyze, and propose solutions to open-ended problems. The contest attracts diverse students–all sponsored by a faculty advisor–from over 500 institutions around the world.
Each year, university teams (over 17,000 in 2018) each consisting of 3-students, submit solutions to one of three open-ended, complex problems within 96 hours of being posted. For each problem, MCM awards 3-5 first places and one overall named prize–so a total of 9-12 first prize winners per year. Since 2009, Andrews has averaged about 15 teams per year.
From 2009-2018, Andrews students have won more first places and named prizes than any other university in the world. Out of 71,470 competing teams, 129 Outstanding Awards and 74 Named Prizes (from the 129 Outstanding winners) EHP has won 13 Outstandings and 12 Named Prizes. Our winners were:
